OPEN CARRIER
Open carrier car shipping is the most common and budget-friendly method for transporting vehicles.
It involves loading a car onto a large trailer that is open to the air, exposing the vehicle to weather and road elements, similar to driving.
Since these trailers can carry multiple cars (often 7 to 10), the cost is significantly lower than enclosed shipping, making it the preferred choice for standard vehicles.
THE VEHICE LOADING PROCESS
THE PROCESS:
Here are the steps for loading an automobile onto an open car carrier:
- Inspect the Carrier: The operator checks the carrier for any damage, ensuring the ramps, chains, and straps are in good working order. They also clear any debris from the deck.
- Position the Vehicle: The operator carefully drives the vehicle onto the carrier's ramps. They guide it into a designated parking spot on the carrier's deck.
- Secure the Vehicle: Once in place, the operator uses specialized straps and chains to secure each wheel of the vehicle to the carrier's deck. This prevents any movement during transport.
- Final Inspection: The operator performs a final check to ensure all vehicles are properly secured and the carrier is ready for transport.
